New Japanese Indie Publisher C#4R4CT3R Announces “Rain98”
Set in Late ‘90s Tokyo with Lo-Fi Vibes and Inspired by Perfect Blue and Ocean Waves Releasing in Fall 2025
April 13, 2025 -- “C#4R4CT3R” (Pronounced CHARACTER) is a new indie game publisher from Tokyo, Japan.
Our first game, Rain98, was shown during the “INDIE Live Expo” livestream on April 13th, 2025, and we have also launched the STEAM page.
Rain98 is scheduled to release on Steam in fall 2025, and we are planning console releases as well.
Rain98 is a psychological-thriller-meets-romance adventure with the lo-fi vibes of late ‘90s Tokyo. As the player, you will find yourself in a chill but somewhat gloomy apartment room with Reina Amahara (voiced by Rio Tsuchiya), a dangerously charming and charmingly dangerous girl. The two of you are tasked with completing a mysterious ritual that could save or destroy the world.The developers of Rain98 took a lot of inspiration from ‘90s anime masterpieces such as Perfect Blue and Ocean Waves to create this unique atmosphere.
With the release of the first trailer for Rain98, we have also opened our official X (Twitter) account and an official Discord server for C#4R4CT3R. Alongside future announcements, we will share artwork and other game tidbits to showcase Rain98’s bewitching atmosphere.
